When Words Fail, Music Explains Everything

As a teenage girl, the first thing I do when I get emotional is make a new Spotify playlist to reflect exactly how I’m feeling. I can imagine many people would relate to this. There’s something comforting about finding a collection of songs that explain your emotions when nothing else can.
All the music I listen to makes me feel like I can scream so loud: with my headphones blasting I can let out every emotion I have.
Nothing can better reflect how I'm feeling as much as my playlists.
Music is about interpreting lyrics in a way that makes me feel connected and heard when I am singing. Music presents a changing universe that will always change lives. The feeling of finding a new band or song is unexplainable. You just feel so much joy, and you just want to surround yourself in this incredible world of instruments and words.
How Music helps you connect with others
When you have no friends that like the same music as you it really sucks; you can’t talk about your favourite albums or an upcoming concert.
Lucky for me, I have finally found friends who have introduced me to my some of my favourite music. We all follow each other on Spotify, listen to each other’s playlists and I have found multiple bands because of this.
There’s something amazing about being able to talk about albums or upcoming shows with people who really get it. We share our favourite tracks and send each other songs we know the other person will like. It’s one thing to hear a song you love, but when you hear it and think of the friend who likes it or even introduced you to it, it makes the experience even better.
The influence music has on life
Whether it’s the influence a singer may have on you or just the background music playing, music impacts everything and everyone.
Listening to your favourite song in the morning can quite literally make your whole day. Even if it’s a sad song, when I listen to it, everything bad disappears and I can focus on everything I love.
Music is the one thing I wish I could listen to every minute. Not having to hear anyone talk, just being able to sit and surround myself in the sounds I love, without worrying about anything else going on in the world, sounds like the most magical experience anyone could ever have.
At the end of the day, I feel like everyone should have a special relationship with music, because there are so many songs that explain so many different things from being super angry to having the best time of your life.
Whatever you're feeling, there's always a song that makes you feel understood.
Whether I’m blasting my playlists alone in my room or sending songs to a friend who just gets it, music is always the one thing that makes me feel better.
Honestly, I don’t know who I’d be without it.
